Bertrand Chamayou piano
Second part of Bertrand Chamayou's carte blanche programme: a journey from Impressionism to present-day music
For this second evening, the French pianist brings us into his cabinet of curiosities, travelling across time from the late 19th century to the present. Liszt's premonitory The Fountains of the Villa d’Este, the depth of Parsifal, the visionary Scriabin and Ravel's poems - alternately magical, macabre and horrific - show us not only a dark side but also a whole world of glimmering reflections and crystalline tones. Bertrand Chamayou eventually joins Messiaen's colourful universe, then performs the brilliant work of his fellow musician Neuburger. An exceptionally rich journey and a fascinating mirror effect.
