Le Nozze di Figaro

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Mozart grapples with love games and misunderstandings...  The art of musical comings and goings, by a young cast from Garsington Opera

Sung in Italian with French subtitles

One never tires of performing or hearing Le Nozze di Figaro. Mozart, not yet 30 at the time, attains the full maturity of his genius in this work, in tandem with his librettist, Lorenzo da Ponte. As a result, it contains all of the elements that have made it the musician's most universally popular opera: a clever libretto, lively banter, ambiguous language and situations, intelligent orchestral writing... not to mention Susanna's fine wit, Barberina's freshness, Cherubino's impetuousness, the Count's authority, the Countess's melancholy... We will definitely not be getting tired of it anytime soon.
