Kirill Petrenko conductor
Diana Damrau soprano
A sumptuous start to the symphony concert season with the Munich State Opera Orchestra, Kirill Petrenko and soprano Diana Damrau
After an impressive concert version of Ariadne on Naxos last season, the Munich State Opera Orchestra and its musical director Kirill Petrenko are returning to the Théatre des Champs-Elysées. While Wagner runs in the blood of the orchestra members, their conductor is nurtured by Tchaikovsky. And the lyrical cherry on the evening's cake will be Strauss's Four Last Songs performed by Diana Damrau, one of the most sought-after sopranos on the international circuit whose coloratura voice can successfully handle both the Italian light lyric repertoire and the heavier German repertoire. A fine Mozart performer and a subtle Strauss performer.
